Looking for some cool spring activities? Fun things to do as we put the winter season behind us? For many people, spring is the best month of the year. Why?
- Everything starts to turn green
- Flowers are blooming
- You can go outside without the hat, scarf and gloves
- Spring training for baseball, anyone?
- The SUN is back!
I could go on and on about what makes spring great – but hey, winter’s pretty good, too!
But now that the seasons are changing, it’s time to start looking at spring activities to keep you and the family happy and busy! After all, the kids loving building snowmen but once the sun starts shining, you know they just want to get outside without having to rush back for some hot chocolate.
Parks and Recreation
OK, not the TV show, but spring is all about getting outside. Why not hit the local parks for a long walk or a picnic (easy recipes here!)? Central Park, Stanley Park, Rock Creek Park… if you live in or near a city, odds are you have a fantastic city park nearby. But don’t forget all the cool state and local parks that are just as good for flying kites, birdwatching or just getting the legs moving.
Two Wheels, Two Feet
No list of spring activities is complete without…. bikes! There are trails all around you, so get the bicycles out of the shed, pack a snack and go for a long bike ride around town. If you’re traveling, most cities have bike rental shops at reasonable rates. Rent yourself a good road bike, grab a map and go explore your city. There aren’t too many better ways to have fun, get in some exercise and see some new places than on a bike!
Hint – use the Fun Things app to find your local bike rental shop!
Museums, Gardens and More
Spring doesn’t just thaw out the ground, it tends to thaw out our reluctance to get in the car at all. Now that the sun is warming everything up, it’s time to go finally hit the art museum, natural history museum or public gardens. There may be some new exhibits coming through town or new flowers blooming at the local conservatory. Take advantage of the new season and see these temporary exhibits or blooming times before summer takes over and things change all over again.
Spring Activities for All
Spring is full of so many fun things to do. Whether you want to go for a run or bike ride, return to your favorite museum or catch a spring training baseball game, the sunny months start now! You might need a raincoat here and there, but the weather is about to be gorgeous!
